Awarded SE Region Under 5s Photographer of the Year '09

Young Kyreece, whom I spotted passing the studio with his parents and just had to photograph him in our previous South Croydon photography studioYoung Kyreece, whom I spotted passing the studio with his parents and just had to photograph him in our previous South Croydon photography studioI am absolutely delighted to be awarded the prestigious title of South East Region under 5s Photographer of the Year.

On Monday evening, the well respected Fellow photographer, Dennis Hylander, judged the print competition for the Master Photographers Association South East Region over at Rowfant House.

After having a couple of procedures of my leg on Monday morning, I made my way over to Rowfant House to delivery my competition prints.  Unfortunately, I was unable to stay for the critique and judging, which has been reported to have been excellent, as Dennis critiques just about every image entered.

Late on Monday night, I received a PM from my lovely Lisa, who happens to be the 2008 UK Photographer for the Year, congratulating me on my win - which she had already pre-empted when she saw the images earlier in the day.

I'm honoured to have been awarded this title and would like to share the image that enabled me to receive it - meet Kyreece again...

Exactly how delicious is he? Thank you again Andrina for bringing him in, he was a delight to photograph.

As seen on TV...

Michael's unique angle whilst we photographed Peter & Donna's wedding - Peter's Facebook profile pic and favour image from the wedding hands down!

It's finally aired, the documentary that took Michael, myself and our children to Jamaica to explore the possibilities of a life out there.

If you missed the documentary and are here in the UK, request a disk for your own viewing. If you're outside the UK, join our official facebook page where clips will be available.

One of the many questions we've had whilst the programme aired at this unholy hour was whether we are still here in the UK. The answer to that is yes, we're still here in the UK and are offering both UK and destination weddings, including Jamaica - in fact, we're off to Spain in May to photograph another beautiful wedding.

We have received a number of comments about 'the hotel guy' and his portrayal of us and wanted to be clear that he was totally supportive of us off camera, both before, during and after the wedding. Admittedly, I too was very concerned that I was being portrayed to be overbearing and upsetting to the bride, which is the total opposite of who I am. I can only think that TV is required to provide interesting viewing and this documentary required some drama and suspense, which it certainly achieved through editing.

View images from Donna & Peter's Jamaican destination wedding right here on our imageXperience blog. Whilst you're here, why not take a look at our other photo sessions from our going back to Jamaica experience:

This morning (16 March 2011), Donna, the beautiful bride, who featured in the TV documentary said, "The only thing I remember... was you coming to my side when my hair was going terribly wrong. I don't think I had any of my bridal party with me and you were the only voice of reason during that time. I remember being upset about my hair and you gave the hair dresser some feedback which in turn helped everything out...

Denise - you and Michael did such an amazing job on our phtotos we cannot thank you enough. You made our day so much more special and I felt we had an instant bond. You also gave us some of our most special photos as a couple ever - doubly so with the shoot before the wedding!!"

Since the documentary was filmed, I have been back to Jamaica twice to photograph an intimately You™ at the Rose Hall Great House, plus the weddings of Amber & Anthony at Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa hotel and Laura & Jeff at The Great House in Rose Hall.

I'm delighted with the interest in intimately You™ - us ladies are going to have so much fun capturing these.

Again, if you missed the documentary and are here in the UK, you can request a disk for your own viewing. If you're outside the UK, join our official facebook page where clips will be available.

When will I be going back to Jamaica again? More to come...

Dnx

PS - The Groom, Peter, loved the unique angle Michael captured from behind the aqueduct and is currently using it as his profile pic on Facebook, PLUS the wedding manager asked for a copy of this image promoting the aqueduct - oh and we've got walkie talkies on order lol :) x

congratulations to newly-weds, laura and jeff werner - the sneak peek...

...Today Jeff married his sweetheart, Laura, at The Great House in Rose Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica.

I am honoured to have been chosen by Laura and Jeff to capture their wedding and tell their story in artful images.

During my flying visit to Jamaica, I have had the pleasure of meeting and revisiting some truly wonderful people.

As I don't have much time at present to tell you all about it, please enjoy a selection of images from today - I'll be heading back to the bride and groom shortly to capture the cutting of the cake and first dance after their wedding breakfast...

amber and anthony's jamaican beach wedding

Warm congratulations to Amber and Anthony on their Jamaican beach wedding at Rose Hall Resort on Friday.

Here I am again in Jamaica, honoured to capture the beautiful wedding of Amber and Anthony, as they committed to tying the knot in Montego Bay.

As we know, getting married is a special occasion and a destination wedding is truly amazing - being a destination bride myself.

The wedding was perfect and started way before sunset for me. By noon my assistant, Sandra, had arrived and we were headed down to the Salon to capture some images of Amber whilst she prepared for the most amazing day of her life.

I could go on in words about how fab the day was and Amber & Anthony's lovely friends and family; Justin, Sarah, Jessie, Trish, Olivia, Sydney and Grandma to name a few, however, sharing the images will speak volumes...

meet kait and nicky...

This afternoon, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing two lovely children of two lovely friends of mine.

As the sun started to go down and the mosquitos started to come out the ants were in force and the children were doing their own thing.

Parents took the opportunity to catch up and have a natter, whilst I chased the children around to capture the shots.

Kait was a natural poser - watch out Canada's Next Top Model - Kait knows all the moves, so long as there is a camera anywhere in the vicinity! As for Nicky, well, he had his own plans - sticky hands were certainly not on the agenda and completely got in the way of his poseability (if that's a word).

Sasha and Jerry, we've thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and completely appreciate all the help and assistance you have given us since we arrived.

Looking forward to coming back and hope these images go some way to illustrating how much we thank you for all of your hospitality.

dunns river photo session

As some of you already know, we are currently working on a project overseas. Whilst we are thriving on the possibilities, our main challenge is managing the heat, mosquitos and humidity - not necessarily in that order.

On Friday, we photographed Barbie and Stephanie at Dunns River Falls. As you will see, Barbie certainly has a look of Grace Jones...
