remember where you're coming from - a word of thanks...
Sunday, 19 July 2009 This morning whilst listening to an audio book, I recalled the initial Photoshop training I undertook back in 1994/5 at Appropriate Learning and some good old days there.
I used to sell educational software, primarily Mac and creative, then got my break in selling creative software training courses when Eva Boyle took me on at Appropriate Learning. She was one of those people who you instantly take a like to. I was looking forward to working with her, then about a week or so after I started, she announced that she'd be leaving and moving on. I was gutted. But hey, life goes on. Sinead Beattie took over the reins and I continued working alongside Larry, Jon, Marcia, Salima, Gretchen, Ally and Dawn. We had some great times and some challenging times.
One of the best things on offer to me was being able to attend a training course when I hit my target. This worked wonders for me, as I love learning, so worked hard on hitting my target. The result, I got the best Authorised Adobe Photoshop training money could buy from Conrad Taylor. If I recall correctly, I think it was Photoshop version 2 back then and we're on the equivalent of version 11 now.
I've been using Photoshop ever since, and anyone who has worked with me knows I'm a stickler for detail and love learning new things and new ways of doing existing things and it shows in my work. Therein lies the beauty of Photoshop, there are so many ways of doing the same thing or should I say getting the same result.
When I consider where I am with my photography, I would like to thank Eva Boyle, Sinead Beattie, Conrad Taylor and Dave Almond (not from Appropriate Learning) for giving me the tools with which to create my art.
Thank you.
