taking care of the storage...
Thursday, 16 April 2009 Last summer we had an unfortunate data loss, then an even more unfortunate experience with a less than reputable and unprofessional data recovery company with locations in Wales and a virtual address in London.
Today I visited a company called Ontrack® Data Recovery based in Epsom, who were happy for me to meet and speak to two of their engineers, their business development manager, Alastair Molyneux and Harpreet, who administered everything.
Being an Apple gal going back to the LCII, it was encouraging to know that Apple recommend Ontrack® Data Recovery for data recovery - in fact Ontrack® are authorised data recovery experts for Apple UK and are the company Apple will send your hard drive to should it fail or require data recovery.
With all this digital information, it's been said to me already - not if, but when your hard drive will fail - so get your information backed up and if the worst does happen, don't just choose any old rapid data recovery company with adwords at the top of the search engine results, select wisely!
Ontrack® are initially assessing the condition of the drives based on their return from the other company and calling me tomorrow with an update on their progress with the data recovery. Fingers crossed!
Will post more on this as it develops.

As promised, Harpreet was in contact today with an update and it's looking good - I'm guessing 70%. Let's see what happens next week. So far, thumbs up for Kroll Ontrack Data Recovery.

Things are looking good from Ontrack Data Recovery, they have rebuild the RAID array and can see the data. So far, communications have been good and they have done what they said they would do up until now. Thumbs up.

Hats off to Ontrack Data Recovery. They have been able to successfully repair my Hard Disk in their clean room, where another so called Rapid Data Recovery company failed. Further, now that the hard drives are imaging, they have provided a detailed report of all the files that are 100% guaranteed recoverable and those that are less than 100% guaranteed recoverable.
Throughout this whole process, they have been in communication with me. I'm delighted with the service so far.
