Awarded SE Region Under 5s Photographer of the Year '09

Young Kyreece, whom I spotted passing the studio with his parents and just had to photograph him in our previous South Croydon photography studioYoung Kyreece, whom I spotted passing the studio with his parents and just had to photograph him in our previous South Croydon photography studioI am absolutely delighted to be awarded the prestigious title of South East Region under 5s Photographer of the Year.

On Monday evening, the well respected Fellow photographer, Dennis Hylander, judged the print competition for the Master Photographers Association South East Region over at Rowfant House.

After having a couple of procedures of my leg on Monday morning, I made my way over to Rowfant House to delivery my competition prints.  Unfortunately, I was unable to stay for the critique and judging, which has been reported to have been excellent, as Dennis critiques just about every image entered.

Late on Monday night, I received a PM from my lovely Lisa, who happens to be the 2008 UK Photographer for the Year, congratulating me on my win - which she had already pre-empted when she saw the images earlier in the day.

I'm honoured to have been awarded this title and would like to share the image that enabled me to receive it - meet Kyreece again...

Exactly how delicious is he? Thank you again Andrina for bringing him in, he was a delight to photograph.

on thursday: meet peanut...

Whilst photographing lovely Tilly-May on her final Cherubs session at the park, her mum Fiona spotted an albino squirrel.  Mike photographed the squirrel as I continued to photograph Mia, completely oblivious to the goings on at the other end of the park.

On realising what was going on, I approached with caution - after all, aren't squirrels just rats in cuter outfits, as Sex and the City's Carrie so aptly observed?

Anyway, after some serious bribery and corruption, Peanut agreed to pose for Mike and I... 

Peanut: "hand on heart, I promise to come down and pose for you if you give me some of your peanuts".

True to his word, Peanut comes down.

 

 

Just as promised, Peanut stops his scampering around in exchange for one of my peanuts and poses for the camera.

Look carefully and you can see the crumbs around Peanut's mouth!
